The aim of our YDT is to provide young adults (14-24) with the opportunity to develop and further enhance their life skills. Training programmes are currently available on the following themes:
- * Creative teamwork - developing inter-personal skills through practical art activities using mediums such as paint, print, mosaic, collage, drawing and ceramics.
- Volunteer skills training programme - empowering young people with the necessary skills to become confident and effective volunteers.
- Leadership skills - how to successfully manage and motivate people within team settings.
- *Assertiveness training - raising confidence and self-esteem along with positive thinking.
- * Public speaking and presentation skills.
- *Understanding and managing stress and anger, including dealing with difficult people and managing pressurised situations.
- * Exploring a range of useful relaxation techniques to help manage the demands of everyday life.
- * Mentoring on the move - running for wellbeing (carried out by a registered UK Athletics running coach).
- * How to deal with bullying - what bullying is; the physical and psychological effects of bullying; support mechanisms and techniques that can be used to bring about positive outcomes from negative situations.
- Preparation for further education & employment - time management and organisational skills, putting together CV's, filling out job/college application forms, developing and enhancing interview skills.
* These workshops are also suitable for young people from the age of 11 upwards. |
